Sadly, male lines of descent are not terribly reliable, there are many 'black sheep' in the flock. The saying " it is a wise child who knows who his father is " comes to mind. And is strongly supported by the modern finding that 15% of the population has a different daddy to that named in the birth certificate, which has been discovered from tissue matching for transplants and the like. Unfortunate, and the cause of much grief I'd imagine.
