Do you guys really read books?

I dont know how you find the time --especially owning a boat.

And why do you need to be entertained by some one elses life, or storys of.

I love to read up on non-fiction books ,---but fiction!!!-- Its just crap that some one else has thought up.

It amazes me that people love to go on holiday and lay on a exotic beach reading a book on say Climbing mount Everest. Why would you waste such valuble time reading made up rubbish? you could do that at home.

I am quite well entertained with my own life thank you, and do not need to be stimulated by others.

In such situation of exess of time,-- like flying-- for instance,-I still have things to do, finances, compile a letter, design some thing for the boat, consider that wiring problem.

I dont have time to read books!!!!!!!! I feel sorry for those that do. As they say --"get a life"

    Jack,

Coming from someone with 1,302 posts??? :D

    Different strokes for different folks.

Do agree about non-fiction. I feel I am, or at least have the possibility of, learning from others real life experiences. I prefer history & true nautical adventure books.

That said, a good, accurately research, historical or present day novel can be a pleasure to read. Many find it a way to escape the ever present daily grind.

At the top I'm pointing out that many would tell us to "get a life" for our interest with this forum. But we do learn & assist others to here.

    Take care.

From my observations, a house without books, novels, fiction , non fiction, is a boring house, the people in it, have no conversation, have often got small minds and are quite insular, with noses glued to TV AND pc, A life Jack Frost?
Normally I do have one, but not at the mo' BUT in saying that, I am never on this pc after 6pm
You only have to observe the people who have subscribed to this thread, they are by far and away the ones with the best SOH, and with a quick wit.
Some just dont have time , or maybe inclination to post banter
I find your post strange to say the least, ah well, maybe I,ll send you a book for your birthday

Whhooaa thats amazing, psycological evaluation over the internet just like that.

    Fantastic, but unfortunately---- a crock.

You see thats the trouble with book readers--they think---(emphasis on think) that they know stuff.

"Oh im a book reader threfore I must know more",-- yeah more made up crap.

Whats the latest hot off the shelf --Harry Potter--Treasure Island ---Ohh stimulating stuff, I cant stop reading it --it so good.--- DUUUUH.

Sorry I have other things to do. I am designing a voltage reducer to reduce the winding voltage for the compound motor on my fuel scrubber today.

But dont you worry --keep reading--- the time will soon pass and soon it will be the end of your life.

    Well done--

I have to admit,--this post threw me, I thought better of Berglia,-- I am stuck for an answer to some one I had more respect for.

A thought came to mind that every time I see a man reading a book on his boat for instance I also see a very poor maintained boat. Un shaven long haired scuffy individual laying in a hamock, and that does not socialise, ( probably cant afford to, wasting time reading crap).

A loner that cant understand how he has been dealt a poor hand in life and hates people with clean boats that are organised and chearfull.

This individual hasnt got the will power to get off his arse, prefering to read about others. ----A dreamer

Am I painting a clear picture here?

Your book readers so you will understand if I say --"get my drift?

Berg --dont get the pages stuck together please.

Oh and before we get some intelligent book reader on my back ,I am refering to Non fiction made up fairy story, I did this crap-- rubbish.

Gimme a workshop manual to an Airbus 380 Now that must be a good read.

Jack I thought the same as you as I don't read fiction either and consider it crap that someone else has dreamed up.

However I did realise that not everyone is the same and to some people reading as their form of enjoyment, relaxation.

People consider me to be a fitness freak as I work out in my gym. a few nights a week. An obese person said to me the other day that he didn't have time for that sort of stuff.

So Jack what some people do in their spare time is a waste of time to others.

Not that anybody cares but I am currenty building myself a new home gym. and reading a book on the digestive system.

    Poida

PS - I think designing a voltage reducer is a waste of time. Anyway it has already been done, it's called a resister.:p
