when i was a child

When i was a child i use to have 3 or 4 dreams, was the same movie on my nights
the first was a machine that was used to drill the ground. in mi dreams i build it, the other thing that i build on my dreams was a fire fighter robot it was a machine, autonomus that was able to produce water mixing gases also this robot have like hand granade that extiguish the flame, the 3 rd was a kind of gun that converts the light in air in mi dream i build this to get propultion from light,to stop falling objets, and things like bullets, in my dream the air can be presurised at a apoint when it turns on light all this when i was an 7 years old child, the dream of flight still from many years ago ,in this case i can fly when the air fill my body and take me off the ground ( like when we are diving and fill our lung with air and return to the surface, other dream that i have is the

i still with the sphere

this morning i was looking the water surface on a lake, with an small breze the plastic ball and empty botles was the fastest things over the water

i am not a designer and here is were you can help me

think on a espherical hull, the outer part will work as the hull, inside the other sphere will be the control room or the cabin this is in place with suports that let the outer hull move independient of the inner hull, we can control the water level or float level to control the exposed surface to the air also in our control legs will have the outer shell rotation ( please search the sketch that our friend felipe draw on rhino on this post)

How i can calculate the hydrodinamic eficiency of an spherical hull with an spherical sail???
after the drum sub this is the more easy to build project

The end is near

Surely not a sailing yacht
For lumpenproletariat
Nor motorsailor nor motoryacht
On neither shall my carcass rot

A sunset cruise on schooner swift
A glass of wine and then a fifth
Shall give my salty spirit lift
When at last it’s cast adrift

For if instead of seventh Heaven
Fickle fate imparts Perdition
It’s better suited to my mission
Old Kharon’s got some competition

I’ll pack the deck and sell ‘em booze
Acheron’s only sunset cruise
No more hassles, no one sues
And best of all no yacht club dues

Everyone wants to go to sea
To feel the oceans sway and roll
The curving sail, and being free
is the cure for a pressured soul.

The first of the steps required to enroll
is to buy a suitable boat
be sure to ask the kindly old salt
if the battered old hull will float.

All of the vessels you visit with hope
Are the gem of the owners eye
They only reason that they want to sell
Is their poor mum's about to die.

They laugh at the thought that a boat is hard work
They scorn the chandlery's bill
The mooring fees, fuel, repairs and new gear
Are all part of the true sailors thrill

The price of the boat as a very small sum
It'd cost fourfold for a new one
As a favour to you, they will throw in some sails
And replace the green rope with a blue one

The mornings so cold that you cant go on deck
The waves so big that you might break your neck
The sanding of varnish, the repairing of sails
The rusting of fittings, getting snagged on old nails
The smell of the bilges, declogging the head
The cleaning from salt, the decay of the lead
The painting of wood, the shining of brass
The caulking of portholes where the goo joins the glass
All this is the cause of the most wonderous glee
For all of the souls who seek freedom at sea.

Ignore the distress of the pitch black dark night
Where the sound of the surf on the rocks
Cannot be seen by your beams feeble light
It's just one of lifes sharp shocks.

The huge tankers horn sounding loud and quite near
But unseen in the fog and the spray
Is nothing important for you to fear
You're too small to get in it's way.

If you're peturbed by this list of endless long tasks, you can do what most sailors do
Find a cheap mooring to anchor your boat
Visit each month to make sure its afloat
And clean up the seabirds vile poo

And when you get weary of finding a crew
And you hear of an impending gale
Do what all of the old salts do best

Depends on what form the end of the world takes.

if its a collision with a celestial object then not much survives anyway

if its global warming then the oceans go anaerobically stratified and are toxic anyway

If it WW3 then there's a chance you could escape to the water but you'd also want to escape detection.

If its political upheaval then there's also a chance but you'd better be damn self sufficient and find a small island to haul out on every once in a while.

I'm sure there's lots of other potential end of the world scenario's but each will have its most survivable escape rout.

It looks like we are all going to be broke and tired by the time the end of the world gets here. People just want to go in peace. Give me a boat full of wine (propulsion not necessary) and woman, and we can party likes it 2012.

Check out Buckminster Fullers 'floating cities' at

http://www.architizer.com/en_us/blog...city-airborne/

A sphere when big enough, will actually fly from the warm air inside caused by the suns rays.

I daresay it would float on water as well.

Maybe the same one than the old man , yes you know him ...NOE !
Whit also some young ladies for 'repopulate' the planet (or try)

For the sphere I reed that on an anticipation book long time ago big spheres for replace the old 'Noah boat'.
You still have time (may be ) for buy a second hand shere used in gaz industry... they are tick enough
When I was young I thinking buy one for make a 'flotting home' somewhere in a nice lagoon.

The whole idea of a boat that would survive a world calamity is a myth unfortunately. Any 'survival mechanism' cannot survive for long without continuing technical support and materials.

Its a bit like Kevin Costner in 'Waterworld', trying to find epoxy resin to repair his storm damaged trimaran - 30 years after the world was covered by water! Its not enough that no resin would survive that long, but where the heck would it have been stored ?

Every material you can think of, for boat or sphere building, relies on a complex support and supply chain. Captain Cook in his wooden ship needed experienced carpenters and tradespeople to repair his bare bones ship. Steel needs electricity and wire or rods to effect repairs, Glass needs huge manufacturing and supply chains for quality materials.

Its the 'small strategic' parts that will stop a craft first. Electrical components, fasteners and rope, break and wear out regularly. I have read cruising stories of boats held up for months when their engines break down in some pacific port.

Still, it makes for some interesting mental exercise - great for keeping the brain working :=)
