Ecological, economical, political and societal problems are all combining for a "Perfect Storm".

Mobility is only a small part of it. We are becoming poorer. Plastics and all sorts of chemicals will become scarce and prices will go up. Food will become a big problem. Water will become a big problem. Healthcare will become a big problem. All power will cost more, electricity, natural gas etc.

We won't choose what we do so much as be forced, by lowering circumstances. As this new Gilded Age progresses, the masses/standard of living will be leveled. A lot of people in developing countries will go up from nothing to some, and a lot of people in developed countries will go down from much to some. It will be very hard to downgrade.

We are in for a ride.
