Dumb question

I somehow have myself all turned around. If the wind is blowing from the west. Is it a called east or west.

Wind direction is reported by the direction from which it originates. For example, a northerly wind blows from the north to the south.

How's the boat coming?

Wind is ID'd by "from whence it comes". So a wind from the west is a west wind, and a nor'easter is out of the northeast.

Thanks, I was hoping no one would recognize me.
I had to give up on my boat construction after going about 75% of the way. You might find this reason hard to believe and never heard it before, but it was costing way more than I expected. I got lucky and sold it though. I then bought a 50" trawler.

A father and son went fishing one day. While they were out in the boat, the boy suddenly became curious about the world around him. He asked his father, "How does this boat float?

The father replied, "Don't rightly know son." A little later, the boy looked at his father and asked, "How do fish breath underwater?"

Once again the father replied, "Don't rightly know son." A little later the boy asked his father, "Why is the sky blue?"

Again, the father repied. "Don't rightly know son." Finally, the boy asked his father, "Dad, do you mind my asking you all of these questions?"

The father replied, "Of course not, you don't ask questions, you never learn nothin'."

The easy way to remember is..

Wind comes from a direction
Current sets to a direction
