Cradle to support the mold?

Hey guys, I'm new here and have a question. I'm about to make a mold to build sail boxes, and was wondering if I need to build a cradle to support my molds. The mold size is 60" x 27". Also how thick should they be? Do I need to lay some woven cloth, or is chopped mat OK?
