Constructing gunwales

I have a fiberglass hull built in 1974 the hull is a Tolly craft design but the mold was sold to Glassply who used the mold and sold the hulls as a hull. the topside was built by a carpenter with a plywood cabin and deck covered with fiberglass. The deck rotted away after 30 years and needed to be replaced. When I cut every thing away I ended up with a fiberglass tub 1/2" thick at the top edge. I replaced the deck and now need to reconstruct the gunwales.
The origionals were fiberglassed on. I plan on copying this design but not being proficient with carpentry or Fiberglass. Are there any truly good fiberglass adheasives to allow me to attach the gunwale without mechanical fasteners. Thanks,
Dave

adhesive

Yoiu could use a product called proset manufactured by gougeon brothers. It has superior bonding strength without the use of a mechanical fastener. Even though it is epoxy(which nsome say can't be finished with gelcoat) it is suggested you wetsand and clean with a solvent after it has fully cured(few days). You can then finish with your gelcoat if that is your finish coat.
