| Choose or pick what u think is the best equipment for your shop... Err... right... been quite busy lately preparing my coming G6 cert exam, hopefully getting my W.I. cert, had a slave type retraining... with the senior welder... They laugh at my old equipment , so that's why I created a poll to see what is the best senior professional uses in the International arena for Gas Welding equipment only... I have Victor and CIGWELD , I sort of offended when they say there are better stuff avaliable... So... vote or post me if yeah can find a better product in the market... or tell me what yea currently using... Thanks N.B. I need to find a thermo weld helmet with temp lock built within, anybody knows which brand is trustworthy?

| Hi Westlawn... not sure what you want to hear. Choice and brand of tools is usually up to the person who is going to use them. If you're a professional using the tools all the time you'd consider buying the best and most reliable. If you're a hobby user then you would consider buying something less pricey but would still get the job done ok. It's like asking someone what car should you buy... think about it.

| well... I have US$500 to spend on the max quality that amount could get me... I am not a fat wallet type of person... welding google is now suited for emergency compact carry case... I was told a good welding helmet would save my eyes from smoke and flash that can destroy my rectina... I never own one of these special helmet... that changes shade as you weld... I have read the PDF and found the spec too much to chew... I wuz wondering if anybody could direct me in this field of welding helmet selection based on what they already confident in... If I cant tell the diffence in US product then how should I know a Chinese made one is not a better choice? Hmmmppfff... You should try feeling heat radiate from yur eyes and see star when you close yur eyes... even professional top of the class get flash sometime... so I was told to me. When I am tired and job still need me... I will have less power to control the flap everytime I weld and thus resulting in flash blind... Now I am schedule for my retraining and upgrade for the next level... I really should get a better protector for the buck I have... I dont want to whin but safety is a good thing to stock on...

| Westlawn, From your thread title, it looked like you were seeking a welding machine. Here it sounds like you're looking to upgrade your helmet/face shield. A worthy goal: eyesight is precious. I can't help you, but maybe some one here can. Looks like a good welding and safety forum: http://www.weldingweb.com/ Good luck!

| The on fire helmet looks cool, I'm sure some jealous sucker would try and put it out for you as well as the shop owner would happily relieve you of your 500 green ones. Student or no student. You make me think of my son. If it's not going to be the best flashiest expensive custom job around it's not going to do the job properly, so here's my advice - There won't be any chicks around to fall for your welding helmet where you weld unless you plan to wonder the streets with it on, in which case you stand a good chance to get locked up as a luny. Unless you have some guys to impress of course in which case you're on your own, I'm not moving in those kind of circles ![]() Get a good quality welding helmet, you don't need to have the biggest most expensive flasiest one around. If you do, however, want to stand out, let it be in the quality work you do. Once you get there, the other things will follow you around all by themselves.

| Personally I prefer the David Mann system of welding - close your eyes and stab in the dark - works for him!! |
