Checking in from the high deserts of Idaho

Long time lurker here. Finally joined yesterday and so I thought I would say howdy. I've attached an image of my current project. There is also a thread over in the sailboat design section.

I've got two daughters and want to get them and myself more familiar with being on the water. I think it's alot better family activity then playing wii.

Say hi if you feel like it. Anyone else around here from Idaho?

Regards.

Jacob

Today it is a little gloomy in the Tampa Bay area. The sun just came out but it may hide soon. It probably would feel like spring to you. The temperature should go into the high 70's here today.

That's because the Jet Stream rolled over us like a bus, freezing our citrus trees which are now turning brown. Watch OJ prices cause they are going up.

TF losses in my region near Plant City were nearly 100%. Several TF farms are in the region. Hopefully it will kill off some invasive damaging species as well. Pythons and piranhas, anyone?

I have no idea, but I hope they croaked. Hopefully the gators got the survivors who were too sluggish to fight back due to hypothermia. Oh, we lost more fish than the aquarium varieties. Snook took a pounding. So did manatees. We hear stuff on the radio about this or that species and certain areas are closed to fishing and recreation due to all the death and stench.

Damn. Sorry to hear about the nuisance. That doesnt sound fun at all. We have alot of fruit farmers around here that can deal similar issues. Cherries, peaches, apples. If spring comes on too early they almost always get caught in the crossfire.

Boston - What parts of Idaho have you seen? I agree its some of the most beautiful country around. Varied too. From high deserts to rugged mountians we've got alot of variety.

Regarding my paper boat, I plan on doing that, however with balsa wood. Its the next step in my design process, unless someone on here tells me I'm a complete nut for designing her the way she is.

Bamboo would make the junk rig look even more authentic. Maybe the fishing tackle store has some cane poles?

I love designing and building things in my spare time. If only I had the money to do the real things. . .
