boat project discussion and update.

hello, my name is alexander.

i have posted in some of the other forums advertising volunteer boatbuilding in negril, jamaica. well i am not going to do that here. this is just a place for me to discuss things and let you all know how the project is going.

i thank boatdesign.net for this oportunity to tell people of this project and to offer a people a chance to visit another country and to have an experience one might not have to chance to otherwise, also to get a chance to skill share and work with other people.

but enough about that.
we will be there soon, i just have to get my friends passport fast tracked from the passport office, that wiill cost extra but it will be done in a day.

then on to the ticket office to get our tickets. we got a good deal, about £200 hundred pounds cheaper than the major travel agents and still flying by a repatable company too.

i am traveling light as the wight restrictions have changed and i think it is about thirty lbs now. i am putting most of my stuff in a barrel and shipping it out there, for £75 per barrel. i will have to pick it up from the custom docks though and that can be tiresome and having to pay duties on certain items.

maybe other people can offer the same sort of encentive, to offer boat building work to others and in return to offer accomodation and food/beverage. just think of the places one could see by combining your holiday and doing some boat building. when i come back to england i may offer the same thing here too. like in london or essex somwhere. it might be good for the americans and other europeans too.

anyway good luck with all your projects and i shall post again soon.
cheers. china.

well it's raining here all over england and it's getting pretty chilly. it is the end of the summer and the autaum is here.
looking forward to getting to jamaica and warming up a bit.
we had to put to arrival date back a bit to the 29 november due to some unfinished paper work but we hav'nt realy had to pay the most expensive chrismas fares yet.

we have a handfull of people interested in the project already from this web site and will look forward to posting a situation report when we land there.

we would like to have volunteers arriving all over the year, especially in the quiet season, may to september. but will take volunteers anytime realy.

once we have a few boats built we should be able to offer volunteers future weeks on the boats they have helped built, for future free volunteer vacations.

i look forward to meeting our volunteers.

cheers.
china.
