Personally, I like Cock Spur but for some crazy reason no one seems to stock it in the Pacific Northwest. It was here untill about six months ago and I haven't seen any since. So I have been making do with Appleton's. I have tried many other brands but none seem quite as good. Although I do like Whalers Original. Flavored and spiced rums just don't interest me.

The absolute best rum in the world when you really desire rum is what's in the cabinet.
Or maybe the freezer.

bntii...
Great Rums:
Zaya, 12 yr from Guatemala. AWESOME!!!
Depaz, West Indies
Flor de Cana 18 yr, Nicaragua
Appleton V/X, 5 to 10 yr blend from Jamaica.
Kraken, Dark Spiced Rum. YUMMY!!!
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, 90 proof.
Bacardi 8 yr.

Rum is no more potent than any other spirit. Its all in how its consumed. If that bar doesn't serve rum, & they do offer tequila, tell them they are F'ing IDIOTS... Tequila is also a fine spirit, but too many Jackholes shoot it until they pass out w/ their ass out...
Hey, tell em to shoot Gin all night long & watch what happens. Same thing.
Cheers...

Ruby Tuesday

We did a charter in the British Virgin Isles many years ago & bought some local rum called “Pussers” which we enjoyed very much. It’s made to the original British Admiralty recipe & derives from the Navy word “Purser”.

We also brought home with us a “Survival Kit” consisting of a tin mug, a fishing lure & gut, a small compass, a box of matches, a small map of the area, a bottle of Pussers rum, and two aspirin for after the bottle of rum! A great memento, although the rum’s long gone!

does it attract pirates?

I will buy any rum with a picture of a sailboat on the label. Narrows it down a bit.

Don't say that too loudly. Now every swill distiller will be posting sailboats on their labels.
