Apology

After posting that I wanted to avoid political talk, I went and did the opposite. I apoligize for the hypocrisy.

It is hard to avoid expressing an opinion on things you feel strongly about.

The above concerned a high ranking US officer and his opinion on the build up in the Persian Gulf.

Good day to all.

Dammit Tim, don't you realise that the basis of politics is hypocrisy - now go and don sackcloth and ashes....

Tim,

You said something on a subject after saying you wouldn't. You thought about that and decided that it was wrong, by your personal code. You apologized, even though no one called you on it and you were acting out of a sense of your own moral values.

Tim, m'boy, don't even mention the word politics. You've got far too much integrity to ever discuss that subject!!

Your right Charlie.

Mom did teach me not to use filthy words.

Have a good one.

Then I must apoligize because I posted the thread.

I'm not sure about "the code" and I don't how one could sit on the fence and not feel it jabbing up one's backside for very long either. You all must have a thicker hide than mine.

I posted it because it was boat/ship related not because it was political.

A borderline case for me.

George,

By "code" I meant Tim's feeling that he had gone back on a personal promise. That's integrity, regardless of the subject.

I'm personally glad you posted that item because I hadn't seen it. I chose not to respond in this forum, but I did read it. Nothing to be embarrassed or sorry about.

I know this forum was around for several years before I found it. Has anyone ever started or suggested a thread category for naval, i.e. military ship/boat discussions?

I've picked up good information from "Military Nuts" and "Defence Talk" before.

http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/index.php?

It's something to consider though, as I'm not a member of either forum.

Oh God....this thread is sickening...like the worst passages from a Mills and Boon...That's a thought....(takes up pen and starts writing.....: 'There were once three jolly chums, Timgoz, Longliner and Lazeyjack, chums that is....until a handsome stranger....' )
