Another Physics Brain Teaser

OK---Anybody who calls himself a designer should not have any trouble with this. So NO giving the reason for your answer until everyone has answered.

The possible answers are:

1) Goes UP
2) Goes DOWN
3) Stays the SAME

A steel ship loaded with iron ingots and continuously fully borne on water is moved into a lock and the gates of the lock are closed. No water can come in or go out of the lock.
The crew takes all the iron ingots and throws them into the water in the lock.
What happens to the water level relative to the lock sides?

This may seem rudimentary for some but it really throws the light switch on for some when learning the basic tenants of displacement.

Stays wet! Displacement remains the same no matter were yer steel is! the ability to spell "phisucks" obviously does not - now if a form of English was not your first language I'd not be upset but your supposed to be American are you not? If your going to be smart be smart if not..........

That is what we Americans call a typo, an error, an oversight, a mistake...no bearing on intellect.
I do, in fact know how to spell physics. Trouble is...you can't go back and correct it once you've posted it..I tried.

Stays the same. The total displacement never changes.
