Hell longliner don't want to do that, it stunts your growth apparantly! Still it's better than drinking water at least should never do that! have you seen what fish do in it! [don't ask just guess]

All Danes! everybody from up that way are danes, as Danish said the 'old?' Danish empire was pretty big - right up until 1901 or something! got to be a good excuse for a beer there! and if not is that not a reason? Yes it is!

0.59 m of the steel ball exposed,
After adding 1 m of water above the mercury, total pressure on top of the ball is 15.93 psia/109.83 KPa. Pressure on the bottom is 21.462 psia/147.975 KPa.

If I have the concept right, the numbers look good. If not, I guess I'd flunk that exam.

You'd flunk....look at it this way, if the SG of the mercury was 16, then the ball, with a SG of 8, would float just at the meridian, i.e. half in-half out with a draft of 0.5m and an air draft (expose) of 0.5m. But the SG is only 13.6, therefor the sphere must be lower than the meridian which means the air draft must be less than 0.5m.

I'll post the correct answer at lunch.

OK, I had the ratios inverted. (Minor conceptual error, sort of a Bizarro universe in which terrorists distribute flowers and politicians watch over gov't spending to get the greatest value for the least cost.....).

Should be more like 184 KPa at the bottom of the sphere under atmosphere, 196 KPa at the bottom with 1 m water added on top, and 105.5 KPa at the top under 1 m water?

There's entirely too much "grey matter" being used here... too much for me anyway...
I've read all 124 posts, had a few laughs and didn't understand anything except when you were talking about BEER !

Seems to me that as long as the displacement of beer is performed properly (from the bottle to the mouth) nothing else should matter (grey or otherwise).

Am going to have to get me a case of St. Pauli Girls today.

Carry on my wayward kin !

Yes Danish I know what you meant, but it depends which way up yu look at it wether it's half full or half empty - stands to reason if you are on your feet the water is at the bottom (half full) if standing on your head the water looks like it is at the top (half empty?) good job he ain't in Australia isn't it!

So what do you call it, if you're standing on your head, and the bottle is upside down, and you're doing that while living in australia, looking through european glasses?
