Here's a different approach to boat design. The gentleman calls himself "Admiral Dinghy" apparently he's off around the world although I suspect the comfort factor may be rather low for the ocean, It's easy to mock but I get the distinct feeling he has not availed himself of this forum ;)

If the link I post dies just search for "Admiral Dinghy".

Having travelled in a somewhat smaller vessel (Hobbit - see earlier posts) on a much smaller journey I can understand his pinning faith on a small bouyant craft surviving seas which might break a larger boat. BUT... I'm rather dubious about the positioning of his mast - in that it appears to be unstayed - and would prove highly vulnerable when turning turtle, to the extent where the wave pressure could rip the bows apart.
And nine foot gives very little space for essential storage of supplies, sleeping and survival gear, and all the tackle necessary for a lengthy voyage....
In short - I doubt the wisdom, but admire the madness.:D

    I suppose not :)
In 1904 this was probably one of the many nationalistic actions in Norway, see the larg flag, we got independent in 1905 after sharing the king with Sweden since 1814.

    But look at this one:
1968, 6 feet, April Fool, Hugo Vihlen, Crossed from Casablanca, Africa to Miami, Florida. Read about it in his book, "April Fool."

Doesn’t this just raise the old spirit of adventure… spent nearly an hour pouring over his website and saved a couple of the survival articles. Fascinating stuff!
Makes my planned circumnavigation in a 26 footer seem insignificant. :p
