Designs which break with traditional lines with one confident stroke of newness, designs which may create a whole new lineage of design based on new technologies, unique new problems, or a radically different way of looking at things, often grab the spotlight. But at the same time, designs within a more developed fabric which strengthen, enhance, and further evolve that fabric are equally if not more difficult to perfect and also deserve to be showcased and seen.

The designs of Selway Fisher are unique and wonderful, showing a variety of regional and historic influences and perfecting both a sophisticated subtlety and a strong wholeness of purpose and character.  In a world of increasing all-in-one universality, it is refreshing and inspiring and liberating to see these beautiful boats which rather than trying to capture the whole game in a new form are instead each skillfully designed pieces with a unique honesty and their own beautifully developed identity.  If you have not already spent some time on the Selway Fisher web site, it is well worth a visit.
